The Shifting Narratives: Igniting High Point to End Homelessness summit promises to be a groundbreaking event that provides opportunities to explore the critical intersections between health and homelessness. This summit brings together people with lived experience of homelessness, community leaders, healthcare professionals, service providers, and advocates to foster collaboration, share innovative solutions, and drive impactful change.

Together, we will examine how health disparities contribute to homelessness—and how integrated care and community partnerships can pave the way toward lasting stability and well-being for all.​

HIGH POINT RACIAL EQUITY SCORECARD
​
Participants will begin the summit by grounding themselves in key data insights that shape our understanding of equity and community needs. Dr. Stephen Sills and the YWCA of High Point will present the High Point Racial Equity Scorecard, offering a powerful lens into local disparities and opportunities for change.

Dr. Stephen Sills
Dr. Stephen Sills is an applied sociologist and consultant with 30+ years advancing evaluation, nonprofit capacity, housing policy, economic development, and public health. He holds a Ph.D. in Sociology and a B.A. in Spanish. A former UNCG Professor of Sociology and founding director of the Center for Housing & Community Studies, he has led more than 200 grant-funded, community-engaged projects. Sills specializes in strategic planning, mixed-methods research, and Community Based Participatory Research. He’s authored 125+ publications and is a former EPU Policy Scholar and RWJF IRL Fellow. Through ongoing partnerships, he continues to address root causes of inequality and strengthen community resilience.

UNHOUSED & UNWELL: CHALLENGING ASSUMPTIONS AT THE INTERSECTION OF HEALTH & HOMELESSNESS
​Reverend Charolette Leach (Moderator)
Dr. Leach is the community health coordinator for the FaithHealth Division of Atrium Health Wake Forest Baptist serving Guilford County working predominantly in High Point. In her position, she works to connect patients and clients with necessary resources to support them in staying as healthy as possible. Dr. Leach is an associate minister at Morning Star Missionary Baptist Church in Winston-Salem, supporting her husband, Dr. Dennis Leach who is the pastor. She has a passion to promote and encourage steps toward improved overall health and to fight against systemic systems that lead to unhealthy lifestyles.

Molly Jordan
Molly Jordan is the Executive Director of Community Clinic of High Point since June, 2015
Prior to joining the Clinic, served as Planning Department team member and Director of Planning at High Point Regional Health System, 1996 – 2014
Former Board Chair of Arc of High Point, United Way of Greater High Point, and HPU Panther Club
Graduate of High Point University and Medical University of South Carolina
Native of High Point, lives in Kernersville with husband and 12 year old son.

Michael "Mike" Thull
Michael Thull is the Executive Director of Guilford County Solution to the Opioid Problem (GCSTOP). He is a Licensed Clinical Social Worker, Licensed Clinical Addiction Specialist, and Certified Clinical Supervisor. Mike brings a diverse background in both clinical practice and public service. Before leading GCSTOP, he held faculty appointments at North Carolina A&T State University and UNC Greensboro. His clinical work has centered on crisis intervention, and he has extensive experience across a range of treatment settings. Mike began his career in public safety as an EMT and 911 Communications Operator with Guilford County Emergency Services, grounding his approach in direct, community-based care.

Adriana Adams​​
​Adriana Galdo Adams, (she/her/ella), has been working in the nonprofit community in Guilford County for over 13 years. She is currently the Executive Director of Triad Health Project and serves on the board of Partners Ending Homelessness, the Guilford County Nonprofit Consortium Steering Committee, the AIDSUnited Public Policy Council, and is co-chair of the COC’s CQI Committee. Adriana holds a BA in Theatre and an MA in Secondary Education as well as certifications in DEI, management and leadership training, and Nonprofit leadership. Though she is proud of her educational accomplishments, Adriana knows it is her lived experience as a first-generation American, as well as her boots on the ground experience working in the community, that drives her passion and intensity for justice work.

Eric Hector
Eric Hector is a Certified Peer Support Specialist. I enjoy reading, teaching, playing sports and practicing holistic living. I became a CPSS because I am passionate about helping others. I believe its my purpose to lead, guide, and inform individuals to resources that can help them transform their lives for the better in each and every area of their lives.

Katlyn Haney (Moderator)
Katlyn Haney (she/her) is the Community Engagement and Outreach Specialist at Partners Ending Homelessness. She is deeply committed to fostering connection, equity, and collaboration across Guilford County. With a passion for amplifying community voices, Katlyn works to bridge gaps between public health and housing through inclusive outreach and advocacy. Her approach centers on listening, learning, and building trust to support meaningful, lasting change.

Dell McCormick
​Dell McCormick is the Executive Director of the Macedonia Family Resource Center. Loving Father to a new 14-year old daughter who's the Love of his life. Also, Real Estate investor & landlord for the past 17 years.

Eli Saveedra-Villatoro
​Eli is a leader driven by a personal commitment to public health. For over a decade, Eli Saavedra-Villatoro has been a passionate leader dedicated to improving the health of communities. As a respected leader in public health, he brings people together—from health systems to community members—to solve complex problems. Eli, a registered dietitian, has a proven talent for building relationships and turning shared ideas into effective action plans. His work is all about making sure that everyone has a fair chance to live a fully and productive life. He believes that by working together, we can create lasting, positive change.

Candice Fisher-James
​Candice James, a High Point native, is the Executive Director of the TCC Community Health Foundation and President of Thrive With Coach Candice, LLC. As a certified Integrative Nutrition Health Coach, she is committed to advancing health equity by addressing the social determinants of health, with a focus on nutrition, maternal health, and chronic disease prevention. Through her leadership, TCC has launched initiatives that expand food access, promote wellness education, and support healthier lifestyles in under-resourced communities. Her work emphasizes empowering individuals to become their own health advocates and equipping them with tools for long-term wellness. Passionate about building healthier communities, she continues to design programs that meet people where they are while inspiring lasting change.

Shereá D. Burnett (Moderator)
Shereá D. Burnett, J.D., VSP (she/her) is a dedicated advocate and leader committed to serving underrepresented communities. Shereá is a graduate of the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill and Elon University School of Law. As a citizen of the Occaneechi Band of the Saponi Nation, her Afro-Indigenous heritage profoundly shapes her work. Shereá's career is focused on creating equitable and accessible systems, shifting narratives about misunderstood and marginalized communities, and empowering them to drive meaningful change. Her impactful contributions span housing and homelessness, domestic violence advocacy, and child and family welfare. Since August 2023, Shereá has served as the Executive Director at Partners Ending Homelessness in Guilford County, North Carolina. Recognized for her dynamic approach to civic engagement and community-driven initiatives, she also serves as an Adjunct Professor and is a prominent voice in community-focused publications. A strategic problem solver, Shereá uses her platforms to raise awareness, strengthen communities, and foster purposeful dialogue on pressing social issues.

Pamela Ingram
Dedicated and compassionate professional with extensive experience serving economically disadvantaged families for 30 years through advocacy, support services, and resource coordination. Skilled in building trusting relationships, assessing needs, and connecting individuals with community resources that promote stability, self-sufficiency, and long-term well-being. Adept at collaborating with local nonprofits, schools, and service providers to remove barriers to housing, employment, education, and healthcare. Committed to advancing equity, fostering empowerment, and creating opportunities that strengthen families and uplift underserved communities that leads to improving public service outcomes and advancing community development initiatives.

Renée Norris
​Renée Norris is currently the Eviction Mediation Program Coordinator at the UNCG Center for Housing & Community Studies. She has been there since August of 2021. Renée Norris is a graduate of the University of Maryland College Park with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Urban Studies. She also holds a Juris Doctorate from the University of Baltimore and is a member of the Maryland and Pennsylvania Bar Associations. Renée served as mediator for courts in Maryland and Pennsylvania during almost ten years of solo practice. Before coming to the Center for Housing and Community Studies, she held the position of Deputy Director at Greensboro Housing Coalition where she worked on various housing programs. Prior to that, Renée Norris worked as a solo practitioner and in corporate positions.
